92 - Al-Lail

{1} وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى

By the night when it covers

{2} وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى

By the day when it appears

{3} وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَى

By the creation of male and female

{4} إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّى

Indeed, your efforts are so different

{5} فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى

The one who gives and fears Allah

{6} وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى

And he believes in doing Good deeds

{7} فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى

We will indeed make the path to Jannah easy on him

{8} وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى

But the one who is greedy, stingy and thinks that he has no need to Allah

{9} وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى

And he calls Jannah a lie

{10} فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى

We will indeed make the path to hell easy for him

{11} وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّى

His wealth is no help to him when he falls into Hell

{12} إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَى

Indeed we are the one who provide guidance

{13} وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَى

And indeed we own both this life and the next one

{14} فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّى

I am warning you from a blazing burning fire

{15} لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى

That was made for the bad one

{16} الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى

The one who rejected the truth and called it a lie

{17} وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى

But the one who feared Allah will be saved from it

{18} الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّى

The one who was giving his money for charity

{19} وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَى

Not because he was paying favors back to others

{20} إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَى

But only the desire to see the face of his Lord, the Most High

{21} وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَى

And indeed he will be pleased
